About “installed from” prices. Every KOHLER generator is a custom installation. The “installed from” price is our starting package for that model (generator, standard automatic transfer switch, standard gas and electrical connections, permit handling and start-up). Your final price depends on generator placement, gas line size and length, electrical panel condition and local permit fees, so we confirm it with a free on-site estimate before any work begins. KOHLER’s published MSRP for the generator alone runs from $3,946 (10RESV) to $7,546 (26RCA); the difference is transfer switch, materials, labor and permits.

Why homeowners choose KOHLER

  • Commercial-grade engines. KOHLER builds its own Command PRO and Series 7000 engines and tests them for 2,000 hours of continuous operation. The same company supplies backup power to hospitals and other critical facilities.
  • PowerBoost technology. KOHLER’s exclusive PowerBoost lets the generator start large loads such as a central air conditioner without dropping power to the rest of the house.
  • Clean power for electronics. Digital voltage regulation holds output within plus or minus 1% and total harmonic distortion under 5%, which protects computers, TVs and variable-speed HVAC equipment.
  • Quiet EcoExercise. The 26RCA’s 90-second EcoExercise runs at 56 dB(A), about conversation level, and all models can exercise weekly, every two weeks or monthly.
  • Built for Midwest weather. Aluminum (RCA) or e-coated steel (RESV) enclosures rated for 181 mph winds; optional cold-weather kits keep the engine starting below 32°F.
  • Premium warranty. 5-year/2,000-hour limited warranty covering parts, labor and travel, with 7- and 10-year extended warranties available. KOHLER dealers travel up to 200 miles for warranty service.
  • Designed, engineered and assembled in the USA per KOHLER, with over 100 years of engine manufacturing in Kohler, Wisconsin.

KOHLER generator FAQs

How much does a KOHLER generator cost installed?

Our KOHLER packages start at $8,000 installed for the 10 kW 10RESV and $12,000 installed for the 26 kW 26RCA, including the generator, a standard automatic transfer switch, standard gas and electrical connections, permits and start-up. Because every installation is custom, we confirm the exact price with a free on-site estimate. KOHLER’s MSRP for the generator alone is $3,946 to $7,546.

What size KOHLER generator does my home need?

A 10 or 12 kW RESV covers essential circuits (furnace, refrigerator, sump pump, lights, well pump). A 14 kW 14RCA can start and run a 5-ton air conditioner per KOHLER and suits many small to mid-size homes. Most whole-house installations with central air land on the 20RCA or 26RCA. We measure your actual electrical load during the free in-home estimate rather than guessing from square footage.

Does a KOHLER home generator run on natural gas or propane?

Both. Every current KOHLER home standby model is a multi-fuel unit that runs on your natural gas line or a propane tank and can be converted in the field. On natural gas there is nothing to refuel, so runtime is limited only by the utility gas supply.

How loud is a KOHLER generator?

The 26RCA measures 56 dB(A) during its 90-second EcoExercise and 67 dB(A) at full speed, measured 23 feet away. The 14RCA and 20RCA run at 69 dB(A) and the 10/12RESV at 71 dB(A). For comparison, a normal conversation is about 60 dB.

How long does installation take?

Most residential KOHLER installations are completed in one to two days on site once the permit is issued. Lead time before that depends on permit review in your municipality and generator availability; we tell you the expected schedule at the estimate.

Is GSHA Services an authorized KOHLER dealer?

Yes. GSHA Services, LTD (Woodstock, IL) is an authorized KOHLER generator dealer with KOHLER-trained technicians, listed on KOHLER’s dealer website. We sell, install, service and warranty-repair KOHLER home generators.

What warranty comes with a KOHLER home generator?

Every KOHLER RCA and RESV home generator includes a 5-year/2,000-hour limited warranty covering parts, labor and travel. KOHLER also offers 7-year and 10-year extended limited warranties, and KOHLER runs seasonal promotions through its dealers; ask us what is current when you request a quote.

Can I monitor my generator from my phone?

Yes. Every current KOHLER home generator includes the RDC2 controller with the KOHLER Energy Management app for remote status, alerts and exercise scheduling over your home Wi-Fi or Ethernet. An optional cellular kit keeps it connected if your internet goes down with the power.

Do you service KOHLER generators you did not install?

Yes. We repair and maintain KOHLER generators of any age in our service area, including warranty service, and we also service Generac, Cummins, Briggs & Stratton and Champion units.
