All five current models use Carrier’s Puron Advance (R-454B) refrigerant and carry Carrier’s registered 10-year limited parts warranty. Ratings are Carrier’s SEER2/EER2 figures and vary by size and matched indoor coil; the Performance 18 headline follows Carrier product data (18.5 SEER2), while carrier.com summarizes it as up to 18. The 26SCA5 is now marketed by Carrier as the Comfort 16; it was previously sold on this site as the Comfort 15.

What Carrier AC installation costs and what’s included
Installed packages from GSHA Services, LTD start at $6,535 for a 1.5-ton Comfort 14 (26SCA4) and run to $14,280 for a 5-ton Infinity 21 (26VNA1). Two-stage and variable-speed models start at 2 tons: the Performance 18 (26TPA8) from $7,950 and the Infinity 21 (26VNA1) from $11,081.25, each for a 2-ton system.
Every installed package includes:
- New outdoor condenser unit, leveled on a composite pad
- New condensate line
- Sheet metal modifications and supply transition to fit the new indoor coil
- New electrical disconnect and whip with breaker or fuse protection per manufacturer specifications
- Removal and disposal of the old equipment
- Refrigerant evacuation, vacuum, charge and leak test per EPA standards
- Installation to local codes and safety standards, with permitting and inspection coordination
- Professional start-up, safety inspection, homeowner orientation, system calibration and a follow-up performance check
What can change the final quote: the system size your home needs, the condition of the existing indoor coil, refrigerant line set and ductwork, electrical upgrades, local permit fees, the thermostat or control you choose (the Infinity 21 requires the Infinity System Control), and how accessible the equipment locations are. The in-home estimate is free. Financing is available with approved credit; see our financing page. Read about the process on our air conditioner installation page.
Warranty, stated plainly. Carrier’s registered limited warranty covers parts, including the compressor and coil, for 10 years when the equipment is registered within 90 days; unregistered equipment gets 5 years. GSHA Services, LTD adds labor coverage for 10 years on systems we install, but only while the system receives annual GSHA maintenance; service by others voids the labor coverage, and the homeowner must register the equipment with Carrier.
About R-454B (Puron Advance)
R-454B, which Carrier calls Puron Advance, is the lower-global-warming-potential refrigerant Carrier uses across its current residential air conditioner line. It cannot be added to an existing R-410A system, and an existing R-410A system does not need to be replaced simply because of its refrigerant.
Already own an older Carrier (R-410A) model?
Carrier has moved its residential lineup to R-454B, and the R-410A models below are no longer in Carrier’s current lineup. GSHA Services, LTD no longer sells R-410A equipment of any brand, but discontinued does not mean your system must be replaced: we continue to service and repair R-410A air conditioners, and R-410A refrigerant remains available for servicing existing systems. Frequently asked questions
Does GSHA Services install Carrier air conditioners in my city?
Yes, if your home is in McHenry County and Lake County, IL, and the surrounding Chicago suburbs and southeastern Wisconsin: GSHA Services, LTD installs Carrier air conditioners from its Woodstock and Lake Bluff, Illinois locations. Check the service-area page for the ZIP codes and communities we cover, or call (224) 220-3660 to confirm availability at your address.
Does GSHA repair existing R-410A air conditioners?
Yes. GSHA Services, LTD services and repairs existing R-410A Carrier air conditioners, and R-410A refrigerant remains available for servicing existing systems. We no longer sell R-410A equipment; new installations use current R-454B models. Book a repair visit online or call (224) 220-3660.
Does a discontinued Carrier model need to be replaced?
No. A discontinued model can keep running as long as it is repairable and maintained. Replacement becomes worth discussing when repair costs climb, the compressor fails, or the system can no longer keep the house comfortable; a repair visit will tell you which situation you are in.
What current model replaces my discontinued Carrier AC?
Carrier has not named direct successors for its R-410A models, so each discontinued page on this site points to the closest current Carrier alternative: Comfort 13, Comfort 14 and Performance 13 owners are pointed to the Comfort 14 (26SCA4); Comfort 15, Comfort 16 and 34SCA5 owners to the Comfort 16 (26SCA5); Performance 16 and Infinity 16 owners to the Performance 16 (26SPA6); Performance 17 and Infinity 17 owners to the two-stage Performance 18 (26TPA8); and Infinity 19VS, 20 and 26 owners to the variable-speed Infinity 21 (26VNA1). A free estimate determines the right fit for your home.
How much does Carrier AC installation cost, and what is included?
Installed packages from GSHA Services, LTD start at $6,535 for a 1.5-ton Comfort 14 (26SCA4) and run to $14,280 for a 5-ton Infinity 21 (26VNA1). Every package includes the new outdoor unit on a composite pad, a new condensate line, sheet metal work to fit the indoor coil, a new electrical disconnect and whip, removal of the old equipment, refrigerant evacuation, charge and leak test to EPA standards, permit and inspection coordination, start-up and a follow-up performance check. The final quote depends on the size your home needs, the condition of the existing coil, line set and ductwork, electrical work, permits, thermostat choice and access, and is confirmed with a free in-home estimate.
What should I consider when choosing repair versus replacement?
Start with the repair diagnosis: the cost of the repair, the age and condition of the compressor and coil, and whether the system still keeps the house comfortable and dry. Repair is usually the sensible choice for a single failed component on a system that otherwise runs well; replacement is worth pricing when a major component such as the compressor has failed, repairs are recurring, or the system is oversized or undersized for the home. A discontinued model or its R-410A refrigerant is not by itself a reason to replace.
