The people who size, install and commission your Lennox system work for GSHA. Gas piping, venting and condensate lines, permits and inspections, start-up and commissioning, and the homeowner walkthrough are handled by GSHA crews, and the electrical work, from the dedicated circuit and disconnect for an outdoor unit to thermostat wiring, is done by GSHA’s own licensed electricians. GSHA installs and services other brands as well, so the recommendation you get is based on your house, not on a single catalog.

Choose a system

Most Lennox systems GSHA installs fall into one of four configurations. Which one fits depends on the fuel at your property, whether the house has ductwork, and how you want it to feel in January and in July.

Gas furnace + central air conditioner

This is the standard setup for a northern Illinois home with gas service and ductwork. The furnace heats the house and its blower moves air all year; the air conditioner is an outdoor unit paired with an indoor coil that uses the same blower and ducts. Lennox gas furnaces run from models rated up to 80% AFUE, such as the ML180EK, to the SLP99VK, rated up to 99% AFUE with modulating heat. On the cooling side, every current Lennox air conditioner featured on this page carries the Lennox spec “2025 Compliant Refrigerant R-454B”, and its SEER2 figure (the SL25KCV at up to 25.10 SEER2, the ML14KC1 at meets or exceeds 14.30 SEER2) is a matched-system rating that depends on the coil and blower it is paired with.

Heat pump + air handler

This is the configuration for all-electric homes, houses without gas service and additions. A Lennox heat pump cools in summer and, running in reverse, heats in cooler weather. The indoor half is an air handler, an insulated cabinet holding the blower and coil, which can also hold optional electric heat strips for backup on the coldest nights; the current Lennox CBK air handlers carry the spec “2025 Compliant Refrigerant R-454B”. Lennox names two current models as cold-climate units: the SL22KLV Cold Climate Heat Pump (Dave Lennox Signature Collection) and the EL21KLV Cold Climate Heat Pump (Elite Series), both listed with variable-capacity operation. Cooling efficiency is rated in SEER2 and heating efficiency in HSPF2, and the rating belongs to the exact indoor and outdoor pairing, not to the outdoor unit alone.

Dual-fuel: heat pump + gas furnace

Dual-fuel pairs a Lennox heat pump with a Lennox gas furnace. The heat pump handles cooling and the milder part of the heating season; when the outdoor temperature falls below a switchover point set during installation, the furnace takes over. Every Lennox furnace featured on this site is listed by Lennox as Dual-Fuel Capable. The switchover is managed by a control that Lennox lists with dual-fuel capability: the S40 Smart Thermostat, which works with premium Lennox communicating equipment only, or the iComfort M30, which Lennox lists as a universal thermostat that works with non-iComfort-enabled and non-Lennox products. GSHA confirms which control your pairing needs at the estimate.

Ductless mini-split

A ductless system heats and cools one room or a group of rooms with no ductwork: an outdoor unit connects through a small wall opening to wall-mounted, floor, ceiling or short-ducted indoor units. It suits sunrooms, bonus rooms over the garage, finished attics and basements, home offices and older houses without ducts. Lennox’s current line is Lennox mini-splits Powered by Samsung, in single-zone and multi-zone versions, and Lennox designates the MWLD and MMLD as its cold-climate mini-split heat pumps for rooms that must stay warm without help from the furnace.

Compatibility and sizing are determined for your home during the free estimate. GSHA runs a load calculation, checks the ductwork, venting, gas service and electrical, confirms which indoor unit, outdoor unit and thermostat work together, and quotes the matched combination in writing with the rating and ENERGY STAR status that specific pairing earns.

Why the installation matters

Two homes can receive the same Lennox model and end up with different comfort, noise and utility bills. The difference is the installation. These are the steps GSHA performs on a Lennox installation.

  • Sizing by load calculation. We calculate the heating and cooling load from the house itself, including square footage, insulation, windows and ductwork, rather than copying the capacity printed on the old unit. Oversized equipment short-cycles, leaves rooms uneven and does a poor job of removing humidity in July; undersized equipment cannot keep up in a cold snap.
  • Equipment matching. A split system is an outdoor unit, an indoor coil and a blower (in a furnace or air handler) that Lennox rates as a combination. GSHA confirms the matched pairing before quoting, so the SEER2, HSPF2 or ENERGY STAR status on your paperwork is the one your actual equipment earns, and so a variable-capacity outdoor unit is paired with a blower that can make use of it.
  • Airflow and duct evaluation. As part of the estimate we look at the return air, the supply runs and the filter location, because a high-efficiency furnace, a variable-speed blower or a thicker media filter needs ductwork that can move the air. If the ducts need attention, you hear about it before the equipment is chosen, not after.
  • Controls. Thermostat compatibility comes from Lennox’s own specs: the S40 works with premium Lennox communicating equipment only, the M40 works with multi-stage non-communicating equipment, and the iComfort M30 is listed as a universal thermostat that works with non-iComfort-enabled and non-Lennox products. GSHA checks the existing thermostat wiring and the staging of the equipment the control will run, and our own licensed electricians handle any wiring changes along with the equipment’s dedicated circuit and disconnect.
  • Gas, venting, condensate and permits. GSHA runs and sizes the gas piping, installs the venting and condensate drain that a condensing furnace or an air handler needs, pulls the permits and schedules the inspection with your municipality.
  • Commissioning and start-up. After installation we start the system, run it through its heating and cooling operation and confirm it performs as designed before we call the job done.
  • Homeowner handoff and warranty registration. We walk you through the equipment, the filters and the thermostat, and register the equipment with Lennox. Registration can change the coverage: on the EL297VK furnace, for example, Lennox states that warranty on covered components is 5 years and that a 10-Year Extended Limited Warranty is available with product registration.

Questions and answers

What does it mean that GSHA is a Lennox Premier Dealer?

It means Lennox lists GSHA Services LTD in its Premier Dealer tier on its own Dealer Locator. Lennox sets training, customer-satisfaction and minimum 4-star rating requirements for that tier (see the section above), and publishes each Premier Dealer’s customer rating and reviews on the locator. GSHA’s rating and reviews are on that listing and on Google.

Does GSHA install every Lennox product category?

GSHA installs and services Lennox furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, mini-split systems, thermostats and indoor air quality equipment. Lennox also makes the LF25 and LS25 garage heaters; ask about them when you request an estimate. GSHA no longer sells R-410A equipment, although we still service it.

Do Lennox furnaces run on natural gas or propane?

Natural gas is the default. Lennox lists the models on this page as gas furnaces and publishes each model’s AFUE rating, but its product pages do not state which fuel set-ups a given model supports, so GSHA confirms the propane option for your exact model against Lennox’s installation literature during the estimate. Homes in rural parts of McHenry and Kane counties often heat with propane; if that is your situation, tell us when you request the estimate and we will quote the furnace and any conversion parts accordingly.

Will a Lennox heat pump keep up with a northern Illinois winter?

On its own, usually not through the coldest nights, so the standard setup here is a Lennox heat pump paired with a gas furnace (dual-fuel) or with an air handler that holds electric backup heat. Two current models are named by Lennox as cold-climate units, the SL22KLV Cold Climate Heat Pump and the EL21KLV Cold Climate Heat Pump; both are listed with variable-capacity operation, and the SL22KLV’s ENERGY STAR line on lennox.com reads “ENERGY STAR Most Efficient Cold Climate 2025”. Which model and which backup fit your house is decided by the load calculation at the estimate.

What refrigerant is in new Lennox equipment?

Every current Lennox air conditioner and heat pump featured on this page and installed by GSHA carries the Lennox spec “2025 Compliant Refrigerant R-454B”, and so do the current CBK air handlers. Gas furnaces contain no refrigerant. For its current mini-splits, Lennox states compliance with 2025 refrigerant regulations; the specific refrigerant is not named in the specs of the models GSHA quotes, so GSHA confirms it from Lennox literature before installation. Older R-410A systems are serviced by GSHA but no longer sold.

What does the free estimate include?

A GSHA estimator visits the home, runs a load calculation, looks at the existing equipment, ductwork, venting, gas service and electrical, and asks how the house feels today. You receive a written quote for one or more matched Lennox systems that identifies the thermostat the pairing needs, the rating that pairing earns, and the permit, start-up, commissioning and warranty registration built in. Yes. GSHA offers financing through its lending partners, and the current programs and application steps are on our financing page. Rates and terms are not quoted on this page because they change; ask your estimator which option applies to your project.

Who registers the Lennox warranty?

GSHA registers your new Lennox equipment with Lennox after start-up and commissioning. Registration can change the coverage: for example, Lennox states that the EL297VK furnace’s warranty on covered components is 5 years and that a 10-Year Extended Limited Warranty is available with product registration. The exact terms for your model are published on lennox.com; ask your estimator which warranty applies to the equipment you are quoted.

Do you service Lennox systems you did not install?

Yes. GSHA repairs and maintains Lennox furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps and mini-splits regardless of who installed them, including older R-410A systems that we service but no longer sell. We service other brands as well. Call (224) 220-3660 to schedule service.
