What is the difference between a combi boiler and a heating-only boiler?

It has its own gas burner that warms a sealed water loop inside the cabinet, and a variable-speed blower moves air across that loop into your ductwork. A combi boiler such as the Navien NCB-H or NFC-H heats radiators or radiant floors and also makes domestic hot water; a heating-only boiler such as the NHB-H or NFB-H heats the home only and needs an indirect or separate water heater. Is this a steam or hot-water boiler?

Neither. This Navien NPF model is a ducted warm-air hydro-furnace, not a boiler: it cannot serve radiators, baseboard, radiant floors or a steam system.
