Navien NFC-250/175H Condensing Fire Tube Combi-Boiler
The Navien NFC-250/175H is a 95% AFUE, ENERGY STAR certified condensing fire tube combi-boiler that heats the home and makes domestic hot water from one wall-hung cabinet, with up to 175,000 BTU/h for heating and 210,000 BTU/h for hot water. Installed package price: $10,948.71, a complete installation by GSHA Services, LTD, a Navien Service Specialist.
Description
Who the Navien NFC-250/175H suits
The NFC-250/175H is Navien’s larger fire tube combi-boiler, built for bigger homes where the smaller NCB-H models run out of heating capacity. A combi-boiler is one wall-hung unit that handles both home heating (radiators, baseboard, radiant floor or a hydro air handler) and domestic hot water, so it replaces a separate boiler and water heater.
Navien rates this model at up to 175,000 BTU/h heating input (161,000 BTU/h heating capacity) and up to 210,000 BTU/h for domestic hot water, delivering 8.4 GPM at a 45°F rise. GPM at a temperature rise tells you how many fixtures can run at once when incoming water is cold in a Midwest winter, which is why we size to your home’s heat loss and hot-water habits rather than to the badge on the box.
If your heating load is larger still, see the NFC-250/200H; if it is smaller, the NCB-250/150H may be the better fit. Navien lists the NFC-250/175H for residential or commercial use; this page is written for homeowners in McHenry County and Lake County, IL, and the surrounding Chicago suburbs and southeastern Wisconsin.
Benefits you will notice
- Heat and hot water from one cabinet. One 17.3″ x 33.5″ x 17.3″ wall-hung unit replaces a floor boiler and a tank water heater, which frees up floor space in the mechanical room.
- 95% AFUE, ENERGY STAR certified. AFUE is the heating efficiency rating. As a condensing appliance, the NFC-250/175H recovers heat from its exhaust that older boilers send up the chimney, which is why it vents in PVC and needs a condensate drain.
- Wide modulation for steadier comfort. Turndown ratio is how low the burner can modulate. Navien lists a 13:1 heating turndown and 15:1 for hot water (heating input from 13,300 BTU/h), so the boiler runs long and low in mild weather instead of short cycling, and hot-water temperature stays steady at small draws.
- Durable stainless heat exchangers. The patented stainless steel fire tube heat exchanger is built to the ASME boiler code, and hot water is made in a separate stainless flat plate exchanger. Navien backs the heat exchanger for 10 years in residential use.
- Built-in zoning and hot-water controls. The unit includes powered connections for 3 zone valves or 3 zone pumps, an integrated boiler pump, and a DHW module with mixing and water adjustment valves, so many homes need fewer add-on controls.
Price and installation estimate
Installed package price: $10,948.71. This is a complete installed package for the Navien NFC-250/175H, not an equipment-only price. The standard combi-boiler installation includes:
- Setting and leveling the unit
- Water piping modifications
- Gas line modification and a new gas valve
- New condensate drain line
- New 150 lb pressure relief valve
- 4.8-gallon hydronic expansion tank and a domestic hot water thermal expansion tank
- Navien primary manifold kit and NaviClean magnetic filter
- Commissioning kit (Protector F1 and Cleaner F3)
- New PVC flue venting
- Removal and disposal of the old equipment
- Start-up, testing and a safety inspection
What can change the final quote: gas line capacity and length, the venting route and length, where the condensate can drain, water quality treatment, electrical work, zoning and piping changes, permits, accessories such as NaviLink Wi-Fi or a NaviCirc recirculation valve, and access to the installation area. The estimate is free and confirms the exact scope before any work starts. Financing available with approved credit; see financing options.

Installation and warranty
GSHA Services, LTD is a Navien Service Specialist (NSS), an authorized Navien dealer, and is listed on Navien’s installer locator at navieninc.com. Our Navien Level 3 trained technicians install the NFC-250/175H with the complete scope listed above, including new PVC venting, a condensate drain, the primary manifold kit, magnetic filter and system commissioning chemicals, then start it up and inspect it before we leave.
Optional add-ons at price-book accessory prices: NaviLink Wi-Fi control ($288.43), NaviLink Lite ($153.55) and the NaviCirc recirculation valve ($99.60); any added installation labor is confirmed in the estimate. NaviCirc recirculates hot water through your existing hot and cold lines when there is no dedicated return line, which shortens the wait at far fixtures.
Navien limited warranty (residential): 1 year labor, 5 years parts and 10 years on the heat exchanger. Residential terms apply to single-family residential use; the unit must be installed by a properly licensed contractor per Navien’s manual, and units bought online or through e-commerce channels are not covered. Proof of the installation date must be provided to Navien by the homeowner or installer; otherwise the warranty period starts six months after the date of manufacture.
GSHA Install-Right coverage: our combi-boiler installation package adds 5-year labor and 5-year parts coverage from GSHA. Labor coverage requires annual GSHA maintenance; service by others voids GSHA’s labor coverage. Navien’s warranty and GSHA’s coverage are separate, and warranty service starts with a call to us as the original installer.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a Navien NFC-250/175H cost installed?
The installed package price is $10,948.71 for the standard combi-boiler installation described above. Gas line, venting, condensate, electrical, zoning and accessory needs can change the final quote, which we confirm with a free estimate.
Is the NFC-250/175H big enough to heat my home and supply hot water?
It is Navien’s larger combi-boiler, with 175,000 BTU/h heating input and 8.4 GPM of hot water at a 45°F rise, built for homes where an NCB-H model is not big enough. We calculate your home’s heat loss and review your hot-water use before recommending it, and we can step up to the NFC-250/200H or down to an NCB-H model if the numbers say so.
Does it need a chimney?
No. It is a condensing boiler that vents through 2″ or 3″ PVC or CPVC pipe, up to 65 ft with 2″ pipe or 150 ft with 3″ pipe, and it needs a condensate drain because the exhaust cools enough to produce water.
Can it run on propane?
Yes. Navien lists the NFC-250/175H for natural gas or propane, with field gas conversion kits. Tell us which fuel you have when you request the estimate.
Can I control it from my phone?
Yes, with the optional NaviLink or NaviLink Lite Wi-Fi accessory; Wi-Fi is not built into the boiler. Both are compatible with the NFC-H series and are available as add-ons with your installation.
What warranty comes with it?
Navien’s residential limited warranty covers 1 year labor, 5 years parts and 10 years on the heat exchanger. GSHA adds 5-year labor and 5-year parts coverage on the installation package, provided the boiler receives annual GSHA maintenance; service by others voids GSHA’s labor coverage.
