Description
The Navien NCB-240/130H is a high-efficiency condensing combi-boiler. A combi-boiler is one wall-hung unit that does two jobs: it heats your home through radiators, baseboard or in-floor heating, and it makes domestic hot water on demand. You do not need a separate boiler and a separate water heater. GSHA Services, LTD, a Navien Service Specialist (NSS) and authorized Navien dealer listed on Navien’s installer locator, installs the NCB-240/130H as a complete package for $10,531.91.
Who the NCB-240/130H Suits
This model is the second-largest of the five NCB-H sizes. The model number tells you what it does: 130 stands for 130,000 BTU/h of maximum heating input (120,000 BTU/h heating capacity), and 240 refers to the domestic hot water side, rated up to 199,900 BTU/h. Navien lists a hot-water flow of 5.1 gallons per minute at a 70°F temperature rise and 7.9 GPM at a 45°F rise. The rise matters because incoming water in a northern Illinois winter is cold, so the 70°F figure is the realistic one for how many fixtures can run at once in January.
It suits a mid-size to larger single-family home with radiators, baseboard or in-floor heat, and a household that wants steady hot water without a storage tank. GSHA confirms the size with a heat-loss calculation and a count of your fixtures before quoting, because both the heating side and the hot-water side need to match the house.
Benefits You Notice at Home
- One unit, two jobs. The NCB-240/130H replaces both a boiler and a water heater in a cabinet 17.3 inches wide, 29.3 inches tall and 12.8 inches deep that hangs on the wall. That frees floor space in the mechanical room.
- 95% AFUE and ENERGY STAR certified. AFUE is the heating efficiency rating; 95% means about 95 cents of every fuel dollar becomes heat. As a condensing appliance, a second stainless steel heat exchanger pulls extra heat out of the exhaust. That is why the efficiency is high, and also why it vents in PVC and needs a condensate drain.
- Hot water on demand. The built-in domestic hot water module with its own stainless steel heat exchanger, mixing valve and 3-way valve delivers up to 5.1 GPM at a 70°F rise, and it keeps going as long as the fixtures are open. There is no tank to run out.
- Wide modulation. The turndown ratio is how low the burner can modulate. The NCB-240/130H modulates 15:1 on hot water and up to 10:1 on heating, from 13,000 BTU/h up to full input. On mild days it runs low and long instead of starting and stopping, which reduces short cycling and keeps room temperatures steadier.
- Zoning built in. The control board has powered connections for three zone pumps and three zone valves, so a home with several heating zones often needs fewer external controls.
Price and Estimate
Installed package price: $10,531.91. This is a complete installed price for the NCB-240/130H, not an equipment-only price. GSHA’s standard combi-boiler installation includes setting and leveling the unit, water piping modifications, gas line modification with a new gas valve, a new condensate drain line, a new 150 lb pressure relief valve, a 4.8-gallon hydronic expansion tank, a domestic hot water thermal expansion tank, the Navien primary manifold kit, a NaviClean magnetic filter, a commissioning kit (Protector F1 and Cleaner F3), new PVC flue venting, removal and disposal of the old equipment, and start-up, testing and a safety inspection.
What can change the final quote: gas line capacity and length, the venting route and length, where the condensate can drain, water quality treatment, electrical work, zoning and piping changes to your existing heating loops, permits, optional accessories such as NaviLink Wi-Fi or a NaviCirc recirculation valve, and how accessible the mechanical room is. The estimate is free, and financing is available with approved credit through our financing page.

Installation and Warranty
Installation is done by GSHA’s Navien Level 3 trained technicians. A condensing combi-boiler needs PVC venting to the outdoors, a place for the condensate to drain, a gas line sized for up to 199,900 BTU/h, and correct connection to your heating loops. Because the NCB-240/130H is wall-hung, we also confirm the wall can carry a unit that weighs 102 lbs full of water. The package includes the primary manifold kit and the magnetic filter that protect the heat exchanger from debris in older systems, and a commissioning kit to clean and protect the system water.
Navien limited warranty (residential): 1 year labor, 5 years parts and 10 years on the heat exchanger. Navien’s warranty applies only to single-family residential installations, runs from the date of installation, and requires installation by a licensed contractor and operation per the manual. The homeowner or installer must provide the installation date to Navien; if proof is not available, Navien uses six months after the manufacture date. Units bought through the internet or unauthorized suppliers are not covered, which is one reason to buy the unit through your installer.
GSHA Install-Right coverage: on top of Navien’s warranty, GSHA’s combi-boiler package adds 5-year parts and 5-year labor coverage. The labor coverage is valid only with annual GSHA maintenance, and service by others voids GSHA’s labor coverage. Warranty service starts with a call to us as the original installer.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Navien NCB-240/130H cost installed?
GSHA installs the NCB-240/130H as a complete package for $10,531.91. That includes the unit, the standard combi-boiler installation scope listed above, removal of the old equipment, and start-up with a safety inspection. Gas line, venting, condensate, zoning and accessory changes can move the final quote, and the estimate is free.
Can one unit really heat the house and make hot water?
Yes. The NCB-240/130H has separate ratings for each job: up to 130,000 BTU/h for heating and up to 199,900 BTU/h for domestic hot water, with a built-in DHW module that includes its own stainless steel heat exchanger, mixing valve and 3-way valve.
How many showers can it run at once in winter?
It depends on your fixtures, so we count them during the estimate rather than guessing. Navien rates the unit at 5.1 GPM with a 70°F temperature rise, which is a realistic winter condition here, and how many showers and faucets that covers depends on their flow rates.
What is the difference between the NCB-240/110H and the NCB-240/130H?
Both have the same 199,900 BTU/h hot water rating and 5.1 GPM at a 70°F rise. The 130H has more heating input (130,000 vs. 110,000 BTU/h), so it is the pick when the heat-loss calculation calls for more heating capacity. If you need more hot water, the NCB-250/150H is the next step up.
Does it need special venting?
It needs direct venting in 2 in. or 3 in. PVC, CPVC or polypropylene, up to 65 ft with 2 in. pipe or 150 ft with 3 in. pipe, plus a condensate drain. GSHA’s standard installation includes new PVC flue venting and a new condensate drain line, so the old boiler’s venting is not part of the package.
Is annual maintenance required?
Yes. Annual GSHA maintenance is required to keep GSHA’s 5-year labor coverage valid, and Navien requires the unit to be installed and operated per its manual. A yearly service checks combustion, cleans the condensate path, verifies system pressure and water treatment, and keeps both warranties in good standing.
