Who the Navien NFB-200H suits

The NFB-200H is the larger of Navien’s two NFB-H fire tube boilers and is built for homes with a substantial heating load: bigger houses, homes with many radiators or zones, or in-floor radiant systems that call for a lot of capacity on the coldest days. Navien rates it at up to 199,900 BTU/h input with a heating capacity of 183,000 BTU/h. It is sized for homes whose heat-loss calculation lands near that 183,000 BTU/h figure; smaller loads are usually better served by the NFB-175H or an NHB-H model.

• 95% AFUE, Energy Star certified. AFUE is the heating-efficiency rating for boilers and furnaces; higher means more of the gas you pay for ends up as heat in your home. As a condensing boiler, the NFB-200H captures heat from its own exhaust, which is why it can vent in PVC and needs a condensate drain.
• 15:1 turndown ratio. Turndown is how low the burner can modulate. The NFB-200H can run as low as 13,300 BTU/h, so on mild days it idles gently instead of short cycling on and off, which means steadier room temperatures and less wear.
• Stainless steel fire tube heat exchanger. Navien’s patented stainless steel fire tube heat exchanger is ASME certified (“H” stamped, a pressure-vessel standard) and sits on a non-metallic condensate base, the part that handles the condensate a condensing boiler produces.
• Compact footprint. The NFB-200H is a compact wall-hung unit (17.3″ W x 27.6″ H x 17.3″ D, 121 lbs). GSHA sets it on a floor stand included in the package, so it still takes far less room than an old cast-iron boiler.
• Built-in zone control. The boiler has powered connections for a boiler pump plus three zone valves or three zone pumps, which simplifies wiring on multi-zone homes. An optional NaviLink or NaviLink Lite Wi-Fi remote control is available.

Installation and warranty

GSHA Services, LTD is a Navien Service Specialist (NSS) and authorized Navien dealer, listed on Navien’s installer locator at navieninc.com, with Navien Level 3 trained technicians. Installation follows the boiler scope above and finishes with a start-up and safety inspection. Because the NFB-200H is a condensing boiler, we plan the PVC vent route and condensate drain during the estimate visit so there are no surprises on installation day.

Navien residential limited warranty (NFB-H series): 1-year labor, 5-year parts, and a heat exchanger fully covered for 12 years, then pro-rated in years 13 through 15 (customer pays 50%, 60% and 70% of the heat exchanger cost). This applies to single-family residential installations; other uses carry Navien’s commercial terms of 1-year labor, 3-year parts and 10-year heat exchanger. The boiler must be installed by a properly licensed contractor, and the homeowner or installer must provide the installation date to Navien; products bought over the internet or from unauthorized suppliers are not covered.

GSHA Install-Right boiler coverage: our installed package adds a 10-year parts and 10-year labor limited warranty on top of Navien’s terms. Labor coverage requires annual GSHA maintenance; service by others voids GSHA’s labor coverage.

How much does a Navien NFB-200H cost installed?
The installed package starts from $9,236.00. That covers the boiler, the standard installation scope listed above, removal of the old boiler, and start-up. Site conditions such as gas line, venting and zoning changes can adjust the final quote, which we confirm with a free estimate.

Does the NFB-200H make hot water for showers and sinks?

Is the NFB-200H too big for my house?
Possibly. For an average-sized home the NFB-175H or an NHB-H model such as the NHB-150H is usually the better match; a heat-loss calculation for your home settles it. Because the NFB-200H modulates down to 13,300 BTU/h, it tolerates some oversizing.

What venting does it need?
PVC, CPVC, polypropylene or stainless steel pipe in 2″ (up to 65 ft) or 3″ (up to 150 ft). Our package includes 3 in. PVC with a sidewall vent kit, plus a condensate drain, which every condensing boiler requires.

Can it run on propane?
Yes. Navien lists the NFB-200H for natural gas or propane, and the propane (LP) and high-altitude orifice conversion kits are included per Navien. Tell us your fuel type when you request an estimate.

What is the warranty?

Can my existing or discontinued Navien boiler be repaired?

Yes. GSHA Services, LTD repairs existing Navien boilers within its service area, including earlier NFB models that Navien no longer sells. A discontinued model does not automatically need to be replaced; if parts are available and the fire tube heat exchanger is sound, repair is usually the sensible first step. As a Navien Service Specialist (NSS), GSHA diagnoses the fault, checks parts availability and gives you a repair-or-replace recommendation before any work starts.

What is the difference between a combi boiler and a heating-only boiler?

This Navien NFB-H model is a heating-only condensing fire tube boiler: it heats your home through radiators, baseboard or radiant floors but does not make domestic hot water. For showers and taps it needs an indirect water heater fed by the boiler or a separate water heater (tank or tankless). A combi boiler such as the Navien NFC-H does both jobs in one cabinet, and a tankless water heater makes hot water only. The NFB-H is the larger heating-only boiler in Navien’s residential line, so it is usually paired with an indirect tank in bigger homes; the free on-site estimate confirms the fit.

Is this boiler for steam or hot-water heating?

This Navien NFB-H model is a hot-water (hydronic) boiler only; it is not a steam boiler and is not rated for steam in any size. It suits homes with hot-water baseboard, radiators or radiant floor loops. If your home has a steam system (one-pipe radiators with air vents, a sight glass on the boiler), it needs a steam boiler, not this model. When does repair make more sense than replacement?

Repair usually makes sense when the boiler is younger, the heat exchanger is sound, the fault is a single part such as a sensor, igniter, circulator or gas valve, and parts are available. Replacement becomes the better choice when a heat exchanger is leaking or cracked, repairs are repeating every season, parts for an older model are hard to get, the unit is the wrong size for the home, or there is a venting or gas safety concern.
