Description
Who the Navien NHB-110H Suits
The Navien NHB-110H is a heating-only condensing boiler for homes with hot-water radiators, baseboard heat or radiant floors. It does not make domestic hot water on its own, so it fits homeowners who already have a water heater or want to add an indirect tank.
It is the third of four NHB-H sizes (55,000 to 150,000 BTU/h), with a heating input of 10,000 to 110,000 BTU/h and a net AHRI rating of 89,000 BTU/h. That range serves many mid-size to larger homes in McHenry County and Lake County, IL, and the surrounding Chicago suburbs and southeastern Wisconsin. The right size depends on your home’s heat loss, not just the old boiler’s rating, so the 110H may be larger or smaller than what you have now; sizing is confirmed at the free estimate.
Benefits You Notice at Home
- Lower fuel use for the same warmth. AFUE is the heating-efficiency rating for boilers and furnaces; the NHB-110H is rated 95.0% AFUE and ENERGY STAR certified. A condensing boiler captures heat from its exhaust that an older cast-iron boiler sends up the chimney, which is why it vents in PVC and needs a condensate drain.
- Steadier temperatures with less short cycling. Turndown ratio is how low the burner can modulate. At 11:1 the NHB-110H can run as low as 10,000 BTU/h on mild days instead of switching on and off, which keeps rooms more even and reduces wear.
- Zoning built in. The control board manages 3 zone valves, 3 zone pumps, or 2 zone pumps plus an indirect water-heater pump without an external relay panel, so bedrooms, the main floor and a basement can each hold their own setpoint.
- Space saved. The cabinet measures 17.3 in. wide, 23.8 in. tall and 12.8 in. deep, weighs 80 lbs and is rated for 0 in. clearance to combustibles. Navien rates it for indoor wall-hung installation; GSHA’s standard installation scope also includes a floor stand.
- Flexible venting and fuel. It is a direct-vent boiler that vents through the wall or roof in 2 in. PVC up to 65 ft or 3 in. up to 150 ft, so it does not rely on the chimney; whether an existing chimney can be retired is confirmed at the estimate. It runs on natural gas or propane with a field conversion kit.

Installation and Warranty
GSHA Services, LTD is a Navien Service Specialist (NSS) and an authorized Navien dealer, listed on Navien’s installer locator at navieninc.com, with Navien Level 3 trained technicians. A boiler estimate starts with a look at your home, your existing piping, zones and venting path. On installation day we set the boiler, connect the system with a hydraulic separator and new circulator, run the PVC vent and condensate drain, treat the system water, set up the zones and thermostat, and commission the boiler with a safety inspection.
Navien limited warranty (residential, single-family): 1 year labor, 5 years parts, and 10 years on the heat exchanger, with pro-rated coverage in years 11 through 15 (the homeowner pays 30% in year 11 rising to 70% in year 15). Commercial or multi-family use carries shorter commercial terms. Navien requires proof of the installation date; if it is not provided, coverage is measured from six months after the date of manufacture, so the homeowner or installer must supply the installation date to Navien. The warranty applies only while the boiler stays at its original installation site, and units bought through internet retailers are not covered.
GSHA Install-Right coverage: boiler packages installed by GSHA add 10-year parts and 10-year labor coverage. This labor coverage is valid only with annual GSHA boiler maintenance; service by another company voids GSHA’s labor coverage. Navien’s warranty and GSHA’s coverage are separate; GSHA’s coverage does not change Navien’s terms.

Navien NHB-110H FAQs
How much does a Navien NHB-110H cost installed?
$8,603.35 as a complete installed package from GSHA Services, LTD. That includes the boiler, the standard installation scope listed above, removal of the old boiler, start-up and a one-year tune-up. Gas line, venting, zoning or piping changes beyond the standard scope are priced in your free estimate.
Does the NHB-110H provide hot water for showers and sinks?
No. It is a heating-only boiler. If you want one appliance for heating and domestic hot water, look at a Navien NCB-H combi-boiler, or pair the NHB-110H with an indirect water heater, which its built-in controls can manage.
Is the NHB-110H the right size for my home?
That depends on your home’s heat loss, which we confirm at the free estimate rather than by matching the old boiler’s rating. The NHB-110H covers a net AHRI rating of 89,000 BTU/h and modulates down to 10,000 BTU/h. Smaller homes are often better served by the NHB-80H, and larger or added-on homes by the NHB-150H.
What does the 11:1 turndown mean day to day?
The burner can run at any level between 10,000 and 110,000 BTU/h. On mild days it idles at low fire instead of cycling on and off, so room temperatures stay even and components see less wear.
Can the NHB-110H run on propane?
Yes. Navien lists it as field convertible between natural gas and propane using a conversion kit. Tell us your fuel when you request an estimate so the kit and gas piping are included.
Do I need to keep my chimney?
The NHB-110H does not rely on a chimney. It is a direct-vent boiler that vents through the wall or roof in 2 in. or 3 in. PVC, CPVC or polypropylene, up to 65 ft for 2 in. or 150 ft for 3 in. Whether an existing chimney can be retired, and the vent route and length, are confirmed at the estimate. If a water heater still uses the chimney, we will discuss that during the visit.
