Who the Navien NHB-80H suits

The Navien NHB-80H is a heating-only condensing boiler for homes with hot-water baseboard, radiators or radiant floor heat. It does not make domestic hot water on its own, so it fits homeowners who already have a separate water heater or who want to pair the boiler with an indirect tank. Navien rates the NHB-80H from 8,000 to 80,000 BTU/h of heating input, which places it in the range of many small-to-mid-size homes in McHenry County and Lake County, IL, and the surrounding Chicago suburbs and southeastern Wisconsin. The right size comes from a heat-loss calculation of your home, not from the size of the boiler being replaced, so GSHA confirms sizing during the estimate. Benefits of the NHB-80H

• 95% AFUE, ENERGY STAR certified. AFUE is the heating-efficiency rating for boilers and furnaces; higher means more of the gas you buy becomes heat in the house. As a condensing boiler, the NHB-80H captures heat from its exhaust that a conventional boiler would send up the chimney, which is why it vents in PVC and needs a condensate drain. Both the primary and secondary heat exchangers are stainless steel.
• 10:1 turndown for steadier heat. Turndown ratio is how low the burner can modulate. The NHB-80H can run as low as 8,000 BTU/h, so on mild days it runs longer at low fire instead of short cycling on and off, which keeps room temperatures more even and reduces wear.
• Compact wall-hung cabinet. At 17.3 in. wide by 23.8 in. tall by 12.8 in. deep and 73 lbs, it hangs on the wall and frees floor space that a floor-standing cast-iron boiler occupied.
• Built-in zoning. The control can run up to 3 zone valves, 3 zone pumps, or 2 zone pumps plus an indirect-tank pump, so it suits multi-zone homes and indirect water-heater setups. GSHA confirms the zoning layout at the estimate.
• Flexible venting and fuel. 2 in. PVC venting up to 65 ft or 3 in. up to 150 ft, with 0 in. vent clearance to combustibles, gives options for routing through a basement wall. It runs on natural gas or propane (field convertible).

• Commissioning kit (Protector F1 and Cleaner F3) for the system water

Installation and warranty

GSHA Services, LTD is a Navien Service Specialist (NSS), an authorized Navien dealer, and is listed on Navien’s installer locator at navieninc.com. Our Navien Level 3 trained technicians install the NHB-80H, treat the system water with the commissioning kit, set up the zoning and thermostat, and run a start-up and safety inspection before leaving.

Navien residential limited warranty (NHB-H series): 1 year labor, 5 years parts, and 10 years full coverage on the heat exchanger, pro-rated in years 11 through 15 (pro-rated means Navien pays a declining share of the cost in those later years). Residential terms apply to single-family residential installations by a licensed contractor. The installation date must be provided to Navien, and proof of that date may be requested, so keep your GSHA installation invoice with your warranty records. Units bought online or through unauthorized channels are not covered.

GSHA Install-Right boiler coverage: the installed package adds 10-year parts and 10-year labor coverage from GSHA. Labor coverage requires annual GSHA boiler maintenance; service by another company voids GSHA’s labor coverage. This is GSHA’s own coverage and is separate from Navien’s warranty.
