About this model

The Carrier 24ANB7 was sold as the Infinity 17 two-stage air conditioner with Puron (R-410A) refrigerant. Its two-stage scroll compressor ran at 75% capacity in low stage and stepped up to 100% on the hottest days, giving longer, gentler cycles, steadier temperatures and better humidity removal than a single-stage unit. It works with an Infinity Control or a standard two-stage thermostat and was offered in 2, 3, 4 and 5-ton sizes.

The specifications below are Carrier’s published figures for the 24ANB7 itself, not for any newer model. Carrier rated this model under the older SEER/EER method and never published SEER2/EER2 figures for it, so the efficiency figures are legacy ratings.

Carrier has not named a direct successor to the 24ANB7. The closest current model is the Carrier Performance 18 Air Conditioner (26TPA8): Carrier’s current two-stage Performance series model. Carrier’s current lineup has no two-stage Infinity air conditioner; the Performance 18 is Carrier’s current two-stage model in the same 2- to 5-ton sizes. The 26TPA8 uses Carrier’s current R-454B refrigerant (Puron Advance), the lower-global-warming-potential refrigerant in Carrier’s current residential line. R-454B cannot be added to an existing R-410A system, and an existing R-410A system does not need to be replaced because of its refrigerant.
