The Carrier 24SCA4 was Carrier’s Comfort Series single-stage air conditioner using Puron (R-410A) refrigerant. It runs at one speed, works with a standard thermostat and was offered in 1.5- to 5-ton sizes.

Carrier’s archive lists this unit as the Comfort Central Air Conditioner; this site listed it as the Comfort 14, a name Carrier now applies to the newer 26SCA4.

Carrier has not named a direct successor to the 24SCA4. The closest current model is the Carrier Comfort 14 Air Conditioner (26SCA4): Carrier’s current single-stage Comfort series model at the entry point of the current line. It is Carrier’s current entry-tier single-stage Comfort model in the same 1.5- to 5-ton range, and it is the model Carrier now calls the Comfort 14. It is offered in 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4 and 5 tons and is installed by GSHA Services, LTD as a complete installed package with a free in-home estimate; installed pricing by size is on its product page.

The 26SCA4 uses Carrier’s current R-454B refrigerant (Puron Advance), the lower-global-warming-potential refrigerant in Carrier’s current residential line. R-454B cannot be added to an existing R-410A system, and an existing R-410A system does not need to be replaced because of its refrigerant.
