Description

Who the NCB-190/060H suits

The Navien NCB-190/060H is a combi-boiler: one wall-hung, indoor unit that handles both home heating (radiators, baseboard or in-floor) and domestic hot water, replacing a separate boiler and water heater. It is the smallest of the five NCB-H sizes. Its burner modulates from 11,000 to 60,000 BTU/h of gas input, which Navien rates at 56,000 BTU/h of heating capacity (49,000 BTU/h net AHRI rating). That makes it a fit for smaller single-family homes, townhomes and condos whose heating load fits within that output.

On the hot-water side, the burner runs up to 160,000 BTU/h, and Navien rates the unit at 4.1 GPM at a 70°F temperature rise. GPM at a temperature rise tells you how many fixtures can run at once with cold Midwest winter water, which is why sizing matters; we translate that figure into your household’s fixture count during the estimate. If the home needs more heat than the NCB-190/060H’s 56,000 BTU/h capacity, or more hot water at once, look at the NCB-190/080H or NCB-240/110H.

Benefits you will notice at home

  • Two appliances in one cabinet. The unit is 17.3″ wide, 29.3″ tall and 12.8″ deep and hangs on the wall, so a mechanical room that used to hold a boiler and a water-heater tank gets its floor space back.
  • 95% AFUE, ENERGY STAR certified. AFUE is the heating-efficiency rating; 95% means almost all of the gas you pay for becomes heat in your home. As a condensing appliance, a second stainless steel heat exchanger captures heat from the exhaust that older boilers send up the chimney, which is why it vents in PVC and needs a condensate drain.
  • On-demand hot water without a tank. Hot water is made as you use it (minimum flow 0.5 GPM), so there is no stored tank to run out or to keep warm all day. A separate stainless steel flat-plate heat exchanger handles the hot water.
  • Modulation that reduces short cycling. Turndown ratio is how low the burner can modulate. The NCB-190/060H has a 15:1 turndown for hot water and up to 5.5:1 for heating, so it can run at a low, steady fire on mild days instead of switching on and off.
  • Zoning built in. If your home is heated in zones (for example upstairs and downstairs on separate thermostats), the boiler already has powered connections for up to three zone pumps or three zone valves, so no extra control box is needed for those zones.

Price and estimate

Installed package price: $10,401.19. This is a complete installed package for the NCB-190/060H, not an equipment-only price. GSHA’s standard combi-boiler installation includes:

  • Setting and leveling the unit
  • Water piping modifications
  • Gas line modification with a new gas valve
  • A new condensate drain line
  • A new 150 lb pressure relief valve
  • A 4.8-gallon hydronic expansion tank and a domestic hot-water thermal expansion tank
  • Navien primary manifold kit
  • NaviClean magnetic filter
  • Commissioning kit (Protector F1 and Cleaner F3)
  • New PVC flue venting
  • Removal and disposal of the old equipment
  • Start-up, testing and a safety inspection

What can change the final quote: gas line capacity and length; venting route and length; where the condensate can drain; water quality treatment; electrical work; zoning and piping changes to your existing heating loops; permits; optional accessories such as NaviLink Wi-Fi control or a NaviCirc recirculation valve; and how accessible the installation location is. We confirm all of this during the estimate, and the estimate is free. Financing available with approved credit.

Optional add-ons confirmed compatible with the NCB-H series: NaviLink Wi-Fi control ($288.43), NaviLink Lite Wi-Fi control ($153.55) and the NaviCirc recirculation valve ($99.60). NaviCirc is an add-on valve that recirculates hot water through your existing pipes when the home has no dedicated return line, cutting the wait at faraway faucets.

Installation and warranty

GSHA Services, LTD is a Navien Service Specialist (NSS) and an authorized Navien dealer, listed on Navien’s installer locator at navieninc.com, with Navien Level 3 trained technicians. We install and service the NCB-H series across McHenry County and Lake County, IL, and the surrounding Chicago suburbs and southeastern Wisconsin. Every combi-boiler installation follows the scope listed above and ends with a start-up, testing and safety inspection. Because the NCB-190/060H is a condensing unit, the venting is PVC and a condensate drain is required; we route both during the estimate visit so there are no surprises on installation day. Learn more about our boiler installation service and the full Navien boiler and combi-boiler lineup.

Navien residential limited warranty (NCB-H): 1 year labor, 5 years parts, 10 years heat exchanger. Navien’s warranty applies only to single-family residential installations, and the installation date must be provided to Navien (proof may be requested). Navien also voids the warranty for units bought online or from a non-authorized supplier, improper installation, and skipped maintenance.

GSHA Install-Right coverage: our combi-boiler package adds 5-year labor and 5-year parts coverage. GSHA labor coverage is valid only with annual GSHA maintenance, and service by others voids GSHA’s labor coverage. For warranty service, contact GSHA as the original installer.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Navien NCB-190/060H cost installed?

$10,401.19 as a complete installed package from GSHA Services, LTD. That price includes the unit, venting, expansion tanks, magnetic filter, gas and water piping modifications, removal of the old equipment and start-up. A free on-site estimate confirms whether anything about your home changes the quote.

Is the NCB-190/060H big enough for my house?

It is sized for smaller homes whose heating load fits within its 56,000 BTU/h heating capacity (49,000 BTU/h net AHRI rating) and whose winter hot-water demand fits 4.1 GPM at a 70°F rise. We calculate the heating load and count your fixtures during the estimate; if the numbers are close, the NCB-190/080H or NCB-240/110H gives you more headroom.

Does it replace both my boiler and my water heater?

Yes. A combi-boiler makes hot water on demand for faucets and showers and heats the water that runs through your radiators, baseboard or floor loops, so the storage water heater goes away.

Can it run on propane?

Yes. The NCB-190/060H is field convertible between natural gas and propane, and Navien includes the conversion kit. The gas type is confirmed at the estimate.

Can I add recirculation so hot water arrives faster?

Yes, with the optional NaviCirc valve ($99.60), which works through your existing hot and cold lines without a dedicated return pipe. The unit has no built-in buffer tank or recirculation pump.

What does the warranty cover?

Navien covers 1 year labor, 5 years parts and 10 years on the heat exchanger for single-family residential installs. GSHA adds 5-year labor and 5-year parts coverage, valid with annual GSHA maintenance; service by another company voids GSHA’s labor coverage.
